Thousands of Muslims across Pakistan are currently observing the sacred practice of Aitekaf, with devotees gathering in various mosques nationwide, including Lahore.
Special arrangements have been meticulously set up in mosques such as Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar, and Masjid-e-Shuhada, ensuring a conducive environment for spiritual reflection and worship during these ten days.
Among these, Jami Masjid Data Darbar has welcomed over 2000 faithful participants for Itikaf, a practice that involves secluding oneself in the mosque, beginning from the 20th of Ramadan, in search of Lailatul Qadr (Night of Majesty) and seeking forgiveness from Allah by abstaining from worldly affairs.
This Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) entails devoted recitation of the Holy Quran, engaging in prayers, and fervently seeking divine blessings. Notably, a significant number of women have also joined the Itikaf City established in Lahore, with separate arrangements made to accommodate them.
The participants will conclude their Itikaf upon the sighting of the Eid moon, marking the end of this spiritually enriching experience.
