The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday decided to field Asif Ali Zardari for the role of president.
Sources divulged the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting was briefed that the party had reached a deal with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The PPP was looking to secure the posts of senate chairman, and provincial governors.
During the CEC meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari burst into tears, while mentioning the attacks on PPP workers and candidates.
Bhutto-Zardari said: "Our workers were tortured, and the PPP's mandate had been snatched."

Morever, the newly-elected lawmakers in Sindh had expressed their reservations, saying, "The PPP might face challenges if the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) gets ministeries."
Reacting to the PPP leaders' reservations, Zardari said: "The MQM-P had already secured ministeries in the past."

Earlier, Bhutto-Zardari said that the PPP did not have enough mandate to become the prime ministerial candidate.

Addressing the press conference in Islamabad, the former foreign minister said: "The PPP is determined to steer the country into the doldrums."
Speaking about any possibility of alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bhutto-Zardari said: "The PTI had made an announcement of not negotiating with the PPP."
Bhutto-Zardari said: "The PPP has no interest in joining the federal cabinet.
