As the voting concluded in Sindh's 130 constituencies, the anticipation heightened as the counting of votes commenced, reflecting the high stakes in the province's electoral landscape.
Total voters
Sindh, with a substantial population of 46.126 million, emerged as a focal point in the electoral arena. According to official figures, amidst this populous landscape, there were 26,994,769 registered voters.
Among these, the male electorate stood at 14.612 million (54.13%), while female voters numbered 12.382 million (45.87%).
Total constituencies
The Sindh Assembly featured a total of 130 seats, encompassing diverse segments of society. Of these, 130 were general seats, with an additional 29 reserved for women and 9 earmarked for minority communities.
Additionally, the province contributed 75 seats to the National Assembly, comprising 61 general seats and 14 reserved for women.
Security arrangements/ Polling stations
In terms of security arrangements, a comprehensive network comprising 14,052 polling buildings and 19,008 polling stations was established across the province.
These facilities were meticulously categorized as highly sensitive, sensitive, and normal, with 4,498 buildings falling under the highly sensitive category, 4,834 categorized as sensitive, and 4,720 deemed normal.
A robust security deployment of 43,156 police personnel and volunteers was orchestrated to safeguard all polling stations, buildings, and electoral materials throughout the province.
Among these, 95,400 personnel were tasked with securing polling stations, while 10,648 formed part of the quick response force. Additionally, 37,108 volunteers and private security guards were enlisted to bolster security measures.
Reflecting on past electoral dynamics, the 2018 general elections saw the Pakistan People's Party clinching 128 seats in the Provincial Assembly. This victory propelled Syed Murad Ali Shah to the position of Chief Minister of Sindh.
