Punjab interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi handed over allotment letters of 12 and a half acres of land to 26,000 landless farmers.
Mohsen Naqvi said that landless farmers in Cholistan will be prosperous if farmers get land.
Naqvi said that after 45 years, the poor farmers of Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur have been given their land rights.
“Farmers were given 12 and a half acres of land per person on lease for five years,” he added. “Today is a day of remembrance for the people of Cholistan. I congratulate the landless farmers of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalnagar on the allotment. The process of allotment of land for the people of Cholistan was pending since 1978,” Naqvi added.
“God willing, now there will be farming in the entire area of Cholistan,” the caretaker chief minister said.
The desolate land will be lush and green, canal water will also be available, he added.
