Apple might bring out a new foldable by 2026. It's been talked about for a while, but there haven't been any pictures or anything, just some drawings in patents.
The latest rumour, coming from a Korean site called The Elec via MacRumors, hints that this foldable phone could hit the shelves in 2026 or 2027.
This new phone from Apple is said to have a screen that's about 7 to 8 inches, making it similar in size to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is 7.6 inches.
If this pans out, it looks like Apple's foldable will follow the book-style design of Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, not the flip-phone style of the smaller Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Now, here's the twist – The Elec isn't sure if this will be a foldable iPhone or an iPad. If it's an iPad, it might replace the iPad Mini, but Apple is also said to be working on a new iPad Mini with a different screen.
It's a bit confusing, especially considering the upcoming iPad Mini 7 without an OLED screen. Would Apple really launch an OLED iPad Mini first, possibly in 2025, and then a foldable iPad soon after?
The Elec suggests that Apple is still figuring things out, as they haven't decided if it's going to be a foldable iPhone or iPad. The details, like the specific features, are still up in the air, making it seem like this project is in the early stages.

Interestingly, both Samsung Display and LG Display have been sending Apple samples of 7-inch and 8-inch screens since last year. Samsung Display, known for working on the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip, could likely be the main supplier of the screens.
Even though the leaks sound exciting, it's essential to remember that this info is in the early stages. So, while it's tempting to expect a foldable device from Apple in 2026 or 2027, things could change along the way.
