In a recent turn of events, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle find themselves grappling with a diminishing influence in the United States, prompting desperate efforts to be taken seriously by the American public.
According to royal expert Kinsey Schofield, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have encountered a significant blow to their image, especially after being subjected to mockery at the 2024 Golden Globes.
Schofield revealed to The Express that the couple's influence has become "fragile," with the duo striving to be recognized as authoritative figures in their new home. Notably, American publications have reportedly started referring to them by their names rather than their royal titles, signaling a potential dent in their status.
"It's evident that they are desperate to be taken seriously or be regarded as some type of authority figure," Schofield commented, emphasizing the challenges the royal couple faces in securing a solid foothold in the American public's perception.
The royal expert pointed out a notable shift in how American media outlets address Prince Harry and Meghan, stating, "You'll notice that American media outlets are starting to refer to them as simply Harry and Meghan over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."
Schofield further suggested that after the Sussexes' team collaborates with a media outlet, updates are often made to change references to their names, indicating a possible effort by the couple's team to reinforce the use of their royal titles.
In light of these challenges, Schofield proposed a strategic retreat for Prince Harry and Meghan, advising them to take a step back to allow the public to forget recent controversies and failures. "I think their best bet is to go away for a little while. Harry and Meghan are overexposed and have failed so much in the public eye. Give people a chance to forget," she concluded.
