Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday announced a renewed effort to conduct artificial rain in Lahore as Air Quality index of the provincial capital reached to hazardous level again.
During a recent meeting between CM Naqvi and the UAE delegation, which included Chief Pilot Michael Anstis and Pilot Colonel Aubeed, the historic nature of the collaboration was highlighted.
Mr Naqvi expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the UAE authorities, particularly the Cloud Seeding Team led by Ahmad Al Kamal.
The UAE's Cloud Seeding Team has become an integral part of Pakistan's environmental initiatives, aiming to significantly contribute to mitigating the impact of smog in the region.
"The pioneering effort marks the first successful experiment of artificial rainfall in Lahore, resulting in air quality levels consistently below 200 for several days," stated CM Naqvi. He expressed optimism for the upcoming experiment scheduled for January, contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
The delegation from the UAE conveyed their deep affection for Pakistan, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations. The collaborative efforts, lauded by experts, are expected to make a considerable impact in combating the environmental challenges posed by smog.
Provincial Ministers Aamir Mir and Bilal Afzal, Brig Nadeem, the DG of Environment Protection Authority, Chief Meteorologist Chaudhry Muhammad Islam, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Senior Joint Director of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Muhammad Altaf, and other key officials were present during the meeting.
