The inquiry commission probing into the Faizabad sit-in of 2017 has summoned PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif.
Sources say that Shehbaz has been summoned by the commission on January 3 to record his statement.
They added that he has been summoned in his capacity as the former chief minister of Punjab.
On December 29, the commission had summoned former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed via the Ministry of Defence.
The sources claimed Faiz Hameed had been asked to record his statement before the commission in a week. "Faiz Hameed has been summoned by the Faizabad Dharna Commission for the second time,” the sources said.

On Dec 20 also, the commission had summoned the former spymaster, who was the head of the premier intelligence agency during the Faizabad dharna of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in 2017.
The caretaker federal government had established an inquiry commission into the Faizabad sit-in. The commission, led by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police (IGP) Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, also includes Additional Interior Secretary Khushal Khan and a former IGP of Islamabad.
According to an official notification, this three-member commission was tasked with identifying the individuals responsible for orchestrating the Faizabad sit-in. Moreover, the commission held the authority to recommend legal actions against those found culpable.
