The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday declared the deputy commissioner's authority to issue orders under Section 3 of the MPO illegal.
IHC's Justice Babar Sattar announced a reserved verdict while accepting petitions against the arrest of PTI's Shehryar Afridi and Shandana Gulzar under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The court declared that the authority of the MPO should rest only with the federal cabinet.
According to the decision of the Islamabad High Court, the Islamabad deputy commissioner cannot issue orders using Section 3 of MPO. The court accepted Shehryar Afridi and Shandana Gulzar's petition against the MPO.
