The Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa asked advocate Hamid Khan, in Shaukat Siddique’s dismissal case, to make former ISI director general Faiz Hameed party to the case or the learned council client should take back all accusations against the former spymaster.
The case hearing has now been adjourned till Friday (tomorrow) at 10:30 am.
The CJP remarked when he inquired how the petitioner could accuse Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as an institution for allegedly meddling in the affairs of the judiciary and superior judges to make the bench of ISI choice—as claimed by the IHC former judge Shaukat Siddique in a speech.
A 5-member larger bench headed by the CJP heard the case at 11:30 in courtroom number 1, which was broadcast live on the Supreme Court’s website and YouTube channel.
‘Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui says he was fired without hearing and now do you also want a decision without hearing Faiz Hameed and others,” inquired CJP.
He also remarked that Shaukat Siddiqui as a judge would never have decided without listening to all parties.
“It is possible that those who are being accused will confirm their accusation. While many later admitted that they had acted under pressure,” Justice Jamal Mandukhel said.
“If a judge is corrupt, the blame will not be on the district judiciary, but against that judge,” the CJP further remarked.
The CJP remarked that it seemed advocate Hamid Khan was ‘reluctant’ to make Lt Gen (rtd) Faiz Hameed party to the case, to which, council Hamid Khan replied he was requesting the bench to do so.
“If you don't want to make a party, take out the names of the personalities and bring a new application,” the CJP remarked.
