Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to promptly allot “Bat” as the party’s election symbol.
The demand was made after party’s core committee convened a meeting on Monday.
Emphasizing the urgency, the committee highlighted the significance of the symbol “bat” as an identity for millions of voters, underlining its pivotal role in PTI’s political representation and the nation’s democratic framework.
Expressing contentment over the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) decision regarding appeals related to intra-party elections, the committee stressed the necessity of ensuring timely allocation of the election symbol.
They expressed concern about any delays in this process, noting that such delays could pose challenges to party’s electoral rights and Pakistan’s democratic strength.
The committee vehemently opposed any attempts, technical or otherwise, to impede or strip PTI of its symbol, considering it detrimental to the democratic process. They affirmed their firm resistance against any partisan or unjust efforts aimed at compromising the party's rights.
During the meeting, it was collectively agreed to intensify efforts in preparing the populace for the forthcoming elections, emphasizing peaceful campaigning as a precursor to the electoral process.
