The govt has initiated a nationwide operation against the illicit trade. The crackdown, launched in September, has intensified throughout the country, targeting the illegal influx of Iranian oil, fertilizer, wheat, and sugar.
According to official figures from November 5 to 12, substantial quantities of Iranian oil, fertilizer, wheat, and sugar were seized across the Pakistan.
Notably, Multan witnessed the interception of 125,192 metric tons of fertilizer and 0.029 million litres of oil.
Karachi also reported the confiscation of 0.010 million litres of Iranian oil, while Peshawar seized 1.451 metric tons of sugar.
In Quetta, authorities intercepted 0.208 million litres of Iranian oil and 48.842 metric tons of sugar.
The concerned agencies successfully conducted over 15 operations nationwide during this period.
Cumulatively, since September 1, the country has intercepted significant amounts of contraband, including 2089 metric tons of sugar, 198.355 metric tons of wheat, 1948 metric tons of fertilizer, and 1.138 million litres of Iranian oil.
The govt, military leadership, and relevant agencies remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicate smuggling and its associated ills.
