Disney offered a first look at the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White. A new picture shows Rachel Zegler as Snow White, surrounded by the Seven Dwarfs.
The film's release date has been changed to March 21, 2025, from its original date of March 22, 2024.
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney's first full-length animated film released in 1937. Over 85 years later, the creative team promises an updated version of the classic fairy tale.
In this version, Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White, and Gal Gadot plays The Evil Queen. Ansu Kabia appears as the Huntsman while Andrew Burnap takes on the role of a new character named Jonathan.
The Seven Dwarfs have been reimagined for this remake.
Notably, the film will focus more on Snow White's journey to becoming a leader with less emphasis on the traditional romantic plot.
Rachel Zegler, known for her role as Maria in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story stars as Snow White. She is the first Latina to play this character which has sparked discussions for her casting.
Rachel Zegler has also appeared in Shazam: Fury of the Gods and will be in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Marc Webb, director of The Amazing Spider-Man films and other movies, helms Snow White.
The script is a collaboration between Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Erin Cressida Wilson has worked on screenplays for films like Secretary (2002) and The Girl on the Train (2016) and Greta Gerwig is known for her work on movies like Lady Bird (2017), Little Women (2019), and Barbie (2023).
