After more than two decades of intense investigations and unforgettable catchphrases, CID is entering a new chapter with the introduction of CID 2.
However, the show is not the same without the iconic ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam, who has been a central figure in the series since its inception. With ACP Pradyuman's absence, fans and cast members are grappling with the emotional void left behind.
In a heartfelt interview with Telly Chakkar (via OTTplay), Dayanand Shetty, who played the beloved Inspector Daya, shared his emotional reaction to the change. He said, “The way ACP Saab used to handle every situation and his lively nature on the set will be greatly missed. We will miss our ACP Saab. He was a father figure to all of us here. We are feeling fatherless right now. However, the show must go on.
Shetty also acknowledged the evolving dynamics on set, where a new, younger ACP will now take charge. He noted, “Now, this chemistry with the new ACP, who is younger than us and will be giving the orders, will be an intriguing aspect in the upcoming episodes.”
Aditya Srivastava, who portrayed the reliable Inspector Abhijeet, also expressed his sorrow over the loss of Satam’s presence. He reflected on their bond and said, “We still cannot believe it. We feel like Sir is still with us, ready to give orders that we instinctively follow. The feeling is akin to an earthquake.
Despite the emotional weight, both Shetty and Srivastava are determined to continue the show with the same dedication that made CID a household name. The void left by ACP Pradyuman is undeniable, but the team is pushing forward in a new direction.
In a dramatic twist, CID 2 starts with a tragic fire at the bureau that leads to the on-screen death of ACP Pradyuman, marking the end of an era. Taking his place is Parth Samthaan as ACP Ayushmann, bringing youthful and fresh energy to the role. The change in leadership comes with the introduction of two new female officers who will be joining the CID squad, set to make their debut on April 12 or 13.
