In a humanitarian gesture, India has sent a substantial 38.5 tonnes of essential relief materials to the Palestinian territories, specifically the Gaza Strip, which has been enduring the brunt of a devastating conflict.
The aid shipment, coordinated by the Indian foreign ministry, comprises crucial supplies, including life-saving medicines, surgical equipment, tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets.
This substantial aid effort underscores India's commitment to providing much-needed assistance to the beleaguered Palestinian civilians.
The Gaza Strip, home to approximately 2.4 million people, has been caught in a violent conflict between Israel and Hamas, which governs the territory. Tensions escalated two weeks ago following an attack by Hamas on October 7, resulting in significant casualties.
Israel's military response, characterised by relentless airstrikes, has caused significant loss of life and extensive destruction in Gaza.
According to the health ministry, the campaign has claimed the lives of over 4,300 Palestinians, the majority of whom were civilians, leaving large areas of the densely populated territory in ruins.
