The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise returns for February 2025, setting the new due date as March 27, 2025.
In an official notification issued on Tuesday, the tax authority directed Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue across Large Taxpayer Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayer Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to ensure compliance with the revised timeline.
The extension has been granted under the powers conferred by Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005. Previously, the deadline for filing the returns was March 18, 2025.
The decision is expected to provide relief to taxpayers, allowing them additional time to fulfill their obligations. Tax experts say such extensions are often granted in response to requests from businesses facing technical or procedural delays.
FBR has urged taxpayers to meet the new deadline to avoid penalties and ensure smooth processing of their returns.
