The federal government has reversed its decision regarding the appointment of Abdul Khaliq Shaikh as Director General (DG) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to an official order issued by the Ministry of Interior, the notification appointing Abdul Khaliq Shaikh as DG FIA has been withdrawn. Just a day earlier, he had been given the additional charge of the position.
This sudden reversal has raised questions about the internal decision-making process within the government regarding key law enforcement appointments.
Earlier, the federal government has issued a notification regarding high-level transfers and appointments in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
According to the notification from the Ministry of Interior, the charge of Director General (DG) FIA has been taken back from Jan Muhammad. Grade 21 officer Abdul Khaliq Shaikh has been appointed as the new DG FIA.
Abdul Khaliq Shaikh has been given the additional charge of acting DG FIA while also serving as the DG of the National Police Bureau.
