Pakistan’s ODI team captain Mohammad Rizwan inadvertently broke fast bowler Naseem Shah’s mobile phone during a practice session at the LCCA Ground, where the national squad is preparing for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand.
According to details, Rizwan played a lofted shot that sailed towards the dressing room, striking Naseem’s phone, which was placed on a chair.
The pacer rushed to check his device, but his reaction suggested the phone had sustained irreparable damage. A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.
The training camp, currently underway at the LCC Ground, features nine members of the ODI squad, including Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Naseem Shah, Akif Javed, and Tayyab Tahir.
Pakistan’s ODI squad is set to depart for New Zealand on the morning of March 23 via Dubai, with the series scheduled to take place from March 29 to April 5.
The Green Shirts, however, will be without Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub, both ruled out due to injuries. Their absence has paved the way for the return of Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Wasim Jr., while Akif Javed is expected to make his international debut.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is also engaged in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, with the hosts leading 2-1. After losing the first two matches, Pakistan made a strong comeback in the third T20I, chasing down a 204-run target with 24 balls to spare.
Hasan Nawaz stole the limelight with a blistering century, surpassing Babar Azam’s record for the fastest T20I hundred by a Pakistani batsman.
The fourth T20I will be played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, where Pakistan will look to level the series.
