A local court on Saturday canceled the arrest warrant for actress Nazish Jahangir after she appeared before the court and submitted surety bonds worth Rs 50,000.
Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Shabir Syal heard the case, which was filed by a resident of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) against the actress and several others over allegations of fraud and breach of trust.
The complainant accused Jahangir and Sikandar Khan of failing to return Rs2.5 million and a vehicle, further alleging that they had issued threats.
Earlier, the court had issued arrest warrants for the accused and directed the police to produce them before the court on March 22.
However, in her recent public statements, Jahangir dismissed the accusations as a pre-planned attempt to blackmail her and damage her reputation. Speaking on a television show, she termed the case a "flop blackmail show" orchestrated by individuals attempting to extract money.
"The entire situation is a deliberate and well-orchestrated scheme. People with no credibility resort to such tactics to target privileged individuals like us," she had stated.
Following her court appearance, Jahangir’s legal team reiterated that she would contest the allegations, maintaining that the case was based on false accusations.
