Security forces successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks on police posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with no casualties reported in either incident.
Late last night, terrorists armed with modern weapons attacked the Kangar Pul police post in Miran, Bannu. However, the attackers were forced to flee after a swift and strong response from the police.
According to police sources, the assailants attempted to inflict damage, but the officers defended their post, preventing any loss of life or property. Additional police personnel arrived at the scene soon after the attack, launching a search operation to track down the fleeing terrorists.
Bannu police confirmed that Kangar Pul police post had been targeted multiple times in the past. In recognition of their bravery, Bannu Cantt 116 Brigade Commander Brig Naveed Ahmed visited the post and awarded cash prizes to the police personnel who successfully defended against the attack.
Regional Police Officer Imran Shahid and District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed were also present at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, in Kohat, another terrorist attack was thwarted at the Muslimabad police checkpost on the Indus Highway. Around 10 to 15 terrorists launched an armed assault on the post after breaking their fast, but the police retaliated fiercely, forcing them to retreat towards the hills after an intense 30-minute gun battle.
Following the attack, a search operation was launched in the area to locate the fleeing militants. DIG Abbas Majeed Marwat confirmed that no casualties were reported. Regional Police Officer and Kohat DPO Dr. Zaid, arrived at the scene with a heavy police contingent to assist in the operation.
In another security operation, police in Khyber district successfully recovered and defused an explosive device in Torkham. According to police sources, the Landikotal police discovered the device at Tatara Ground and promptly neutralized the threat, ensuring public safety.
