Netflix co-chief executive officer Ted Sarandos has defended Meghan Markle, saying the Duchess of Sussex is "often unfairly dismissed," as her latest project, With Love, Meghan, faces mixed reviews.
In an interview with Variety, Mr Sarandos noted that Meghan’s cultural influence is frequently undervalued. "When we released the trailer for Harry & Meghan, every detail on-screen was dissected in the media for days," he said.
He cited the public’s fascination with the Duchess, pointing out how items seen in the documentary—such as her shoes and an Hermès blanket—quickly sold out worldwide. "People are fascinated with Meghan Markle," he remarked.
The former actress’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which focuses on lifestyle and wellness, has drawn divided reactions from viewers. However, despite the criticism, the show has already been renewed for a second season.
In addition to her Netflix commitments, Meghan is set to launch a new podcast titled Confessions of a Female Founder on March 14, further expanding her media presence.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix in 2020 following their departure from royal duties.
