Terrorists launched coordinated attacks on two police stations and a police post in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Friday night, triggering an exchange of fire between the assailants and security personnel, officials said.
According to police sources, unidentified motorcyclists hurled two hand grenades at the Khojri police post. However, no casualties were reported in the attack.
Following the incident, local residents took up arms to support the police and announced that elders of the area would play an active role in safeguarding the post.
Meanwhile, militants also targeted Bakakhel and Ghoriwala police stations, where gunfire was exchanged between security forces and the attackers. The incidents, occurring simultaneously at three different locations, spread panic in the region.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to track down the assailants, while law enforcement agencies have tightened security measures to prevent further attacks.
Local residents have vowed to cooperate with the police in countering terrorist threats, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace in the area.
