Inflation in Pakistan increased by 0.22% during the second week of Ramadan, with prices of 12 essential items, including live broiler chicken, tomatoes, and sugar, witnessing a surge. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), inflation on an annual basis recorded a decline of 1.97% for the week ending March 13.

During the past week, tomato prices increased by Rs22 per kg, reaching an average price of Rs80 per kg, Live broiler chicken became Rs31 more expensive, with an average price of Rs510 per kg. Sugar prices rose by Rs9 per kg, with an average price recorded at Rs172 per kg. LPG domestic cylinder prices increased by Rs46, reaching an average price of Rs3,262.
Despite the overall increase, 15 essential items saw a decrease in prices, while 24 remained stable.
Onions became Rs14 cheaper, now priced at Rs70 per kg. Potatoes dropped by Rs5 per kg. Garlic price fell by Rs36 per kg, while gram lentils and mash lentils became Rs6 and Rs2 cheaper per kg, respectively.
