Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani remains at odds with the government over the non-implementation of opposition Senator Ejaz Chaudhry’s production order.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Gilani is set to preside over today’s Senate session, scheduled for 11:30 AM at Parliament House. However, new production orders for Senator Ejaz Chaudhry have not been issued for this session.
PML-N Parliamentary Leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui confirmed Gilani’s displeasure, stating that the Senate chairman is currently in Karachi for personal commitments. He added that today’s session would be chaired by either the Deputy Chairman or a Presiding Officer, and efforts would be made to resolve the matter.
Gilani had previously boycotted the last Senate session in protest, and despite repeated assurances, the government has failed to placate him. Parliamentary sources indicate that Ejaz Chaudhry’s production orders remain unissued for the new session.
