Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed multiple investment and cooperation agreements during the official visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, included high-level political and military discussions and the signing of agreements to boost trade between the two nations to $2 billion.
Agreements signed
During a formal agreement-signing ceremony, Pakistan and the UAE exchanged five MoUs across various sectors, including:
- Infrastructure: Investment agreements to support development projects
- Railways: Exchange of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance railway connectivity
- Mining: Agreement for bilateral cooperation in the mining sector
- Banking: Exchange of important documents to strengthen banking sector ties

The ceremony, held in Islamabad, was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the visiting crown prince, who witnessed the exchange of multiple MoUs and agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
PM Shehbaz Sharif meets Abu Dhabi crown prince
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his official visit to Pakistan.
During their bilateral meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE. They later led delegation-level talks, focusing on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, and economic development.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that Pakistan and the UAE are working closely to transform their long-standing relations into a robust economic partnership. He highlighted a key project that will benefit both Gwadar and Abu Dhabi ports, calling it a game-changer for regional trade and connectivity.
Expressing gratitude, Shehbaz Sharif thanked the UAE for its consistent support during challenging times.
In response, Crown Prince Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan appreciated the warm hospitality extended by Pakistan and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic growth and prosperity.
Crown Prince conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan
As part of his visit, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was honoured with Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civilian award in Pakistan, in recognition of his efforts to strengthen Pak-UAE relations. The award was presented at a grand ceremony at the Presidency, where President Asif Ali Zardari personally welcomed the distinguished guest.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key members of the federal cabinet. Other notable attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari.
Later, the crown prince left Pakistan after completing his one-day visit. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif saw the distinguished guest off.
