Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram stated on Tuesday that the government fears being exposed if an independent judicial commission is formed.
Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, he criticised the delay in negotiations, calling it a "waste of time".
Akram maintained that the government avoided creating a judicial commission to address key issues.
He noted that the PPP is now claiming there was no consultation on the controversial bills such as the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (PECA) Act.
He questioned why PPP members did not oppose the PECA Act in committee meetings and added that the PTI would now work to unite the opposition parties to resist these controversial measures.
– PTI vows to stage nationwide protests against PECA amendment bill –
Few days back, Akram vowed to stage the nationwide protests against the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) amendment bill.
Addressing the press conference, Akram said, "We also denounce the Digital Nation Act. The act will be used to control the social media and against the PTI.
"The PECA Act is a draconian law. Both the laws are against the freedom of expression," Akram added.
Speaking about the talks with the government, "The fourth round of the talks will be held only if the government forms the judicial commission till 12 pm today."
The Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2024 was approved by the National Assembly’s IT and Telecom Standing Committee with a majority vote.
