A unique fruit, known as Anar phali for its pomegranate-like appearance, gained attention in Lahore’s winter markets, captivating buyers with its tangy-sweet taste and abundant health benefits.
Vendors referred to this vibrant fruit, also called cactus fruit, as a rare treasure. "This fruit is highly sought after and holds unmatched nutritional value," a vendor stated enthusiastically.
Shoppers, drawn by its bright red hue, hailed the fruit’s richness in Vitamin C and iron. "It is not only delicious but also incredibly beneficial for human health," remarked one buyer.
Native to the wilds of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anar phali made its debut in Lahore’s markets this winter. City dwellers expressed their fascination with the fruit’s novelty and acknowledged their efforts to secure it. "We often have to make repeated visits to the market just to find this rare fruit," said a resident of Lahore.
The seasonal delight, with its pomegranate-like seeds and a combination of sweet and tangy flavours, stood out among traditional winter fruits such as apples, bananas, and citrus varieties, which solidified its status as a must-try for the city’s residents.
