Lahore district administration seemed to be helpless in controlling the encroachment mafia, as illegal structures and stalls continue to occupy major roads despite ongoing operations.
Punjab chief minister had directed the district administration to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments, yet key areas such as Yateem Khana, Bhati Chowk, Shah Alam Market, and Haji Camp remain cluttered with illegal encroachments.
Even after numerous anti-encroachment operations, the situation remains unchanged. Punjab's Minister for Local Government, Zeeshan Rafiq, acknowledged the challenges and stated, "We are taking steps to improve the situation."
Citizens, however, believe that the absence of a proper monitoring system has made it difficult to curb the encroachment mafia effectively.
Despite hundreds of operations, the district administration has failed to enforce the removal of encroachments or implement single-line street vending zones.
