PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui has revealed that Pakistan was not invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected US President Donald Trump, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to the US on his own.
Mohsin Naqvi is currently on a visit to the US where he has met with Congressmen Joe Wilson and Rob Bresnahan. This week, speaking on Samaa TV’s talk show ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had claimed that "Mohsin Naqvi has gone to the US as a government representative".
Speaking on Samaa TV programme, ‘Mere Sawal’, on Saturday, Senator Irfan Siddiqui stated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has gone to the US on his own and Pakistan was not officially invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Donald Trump.
Siddiqui said if Islamabad had been invited to the inauguration, the country would have considered it. He announced that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was likely to visit the US in the coming days to discuss bilateral relations.
He further maintained that there was no tension in Pakistan-US relations, adding that Washington would not want to create differences with Pakistan for the sake of an individual to harm its own interests.
