Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has written to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, voicing strong reservations about the federal government’s formation of a committee to oversee the funds allocated to the merged districts.
In his letter, Gandapur highlighted that the merger of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with KP was carried out under the 25th Constitutional Amendment, which grants all administrative powers over the merged districts to the KP government.
Terming the federal government’s notification establishing the committee as unconstitutional, Gandapur stated, "This decision not only violates the Constitution but also undermines the authority of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government."
The chief minister called on the federal government to immediately withdraw the notification regarding the "controversial committee" and warned of potential legal action. “The provincial government reserves the right to approach the Supreme Court to safeguard its constitutional rights,” Gandapur asserted.
