Mumbai police are delving deeper into the mysterious attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence on January 16.
Contradictions in the statements of Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor, as well as inconsistencies in medical reports, have added layers of complexity to the case.
According to Saif, he and Kareena were in their bedroom on the 11th floor of the Satguru Sharan building when they heard their younger son Jeh’s nanny, Eliyama Philips, scream. They rushed to the scene, where Saif claimed to have confronted and overpowered the intruder after being stabbed multiple times.
Meanwhile, Kareena stated she came down from the 12th floor to find Saif already engaged in a struggle with the attacker, raising questions about the exact sequence of events.
Medical report flaws
Adding to the intrigue, Saif's medical report has conflicting details. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam questioned Saif's swift recovery from alleged deep stab wounds following a six-hour surgery. Additionally, reports suggest that Saif was taken to the hospital by his friend Afsar Zaidi, not his son Ibrahim, as initially claimed.
CCTV video conflict
CCTV footage from the building has also been scrutinized, with experts questioning whether the attacker seen on video matched the person responsible. Notably, the suspect had no visible bloodstains despite allegedly stabbing Saif six times.
Increased security
In light of the attack, Mumbai police have increased security outside Saif's Bandra residence, deploying two constables in shifts and enhancing surveillance with additional cameras and window grills.
Former IPS officer Nirmal Kaur emphasized that the police must present an official version in court to clarify the numerous discrepancies.
