The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Thursday approved the names of the 12 additional judges for the Sindh High Court (SHC).
According to details, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi had presided over the meeting of the JCP. In an issued statement, during the judicial commission meeting, the constitutional bench of the SHC had given the six-month extension.
Tasneem Sultana, Khalid Hussain, Osman Ali Hadi, Nisar Bhanbro, Jaffar Raza, Hasan Akbar will be appointed as the SHC’s additional judges.
Moreover, Abdul Hamid Bhurgri, Jan Ali Junejo, Miran Muhammad Shah, Ali Haider Ada, Riazat Ali, and Fayyazul Hasan Shah will also be appointed as the SHC additional judges.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, convened two separate meetings to deliberate on the appointment of additional judges for the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC).
The commission approved the nominations of Azam Khan and Raja Inam Amin Minhas as additional judges for the Islamabad High Court. Sources said the commission nominated two out of the four candidates.
While the decision for the Islamabad High Court appointments was made by majority vote, the approval of judges for the Balochistan High Court was reached unanimously.
For the Balochistan High Court, the Judicial Commission nominated Muhammad Asif, Najamuddin Mengal, and Muhammad Ayub as additional judges. Sources confirm that the nominations were finalised after careful consideration of their professional credentials and judicial expertise.
