Pakistan red-ball vice-captain Saud Shakeel said on Thursday that the spin-friendly pitches like Multan should be prepared in the domestic cricket for helping the players to get enough "familiar" with the conditions.
Addressing the press conference in Multan, Shakeel said, “Scoring more runs in the first innings of the Test match gives a lot of relaxation for the rest of the match.”
“We usually look to score around 350 runs in an innings instead of going for 500-600 runs if the conditions do not favour the batters,” said Shakeel.
Shakeel said, “I have always tried to perform for the cause of steering the team to victory.”
“Changes have nothing to do with following the team's success,” he added.
Speaking about any potential changes in the team for the second and final Test match against the West Indies, slated to begin from January 25, Shakeel stated, “The playing XI will remain the same if the conditions do not change.”
“I don’t feel that the conditions like Multan will harm us. We are powering to victory in these [spin-friendly] conditions,” he said.
