cold wave is set to grip Karachi and several other cities of Sindh from January 24, with temperatures in the port city expected to dip to single digits, a weather analyst warned on Sunday.
The meteorologist predicted that the cold, westerly winds would affect the country starting from January 18, continuing through January 23. These winds could bring moderate rain to various parts of the country and snowfall in the mountainous regions.
The westerly system will impact several cities in Sindh, including Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana, which are expected to receive moderate rainfall between January 21 and 23. Other regions may experience cloudy skies.
Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicated that Karachi would witness strong winds on Saturday, with gusts blowing at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour from the northeast.
Despite the winds, the weather in the city is forecast to remain dry and cool for the next 24 hours.
The PMD also issued a forecast predicting high winds and rain across northern parts of the country, with snowfall expected on the mountains from January 18 to 20.
For the past week, Karachi has experienced intermittent bursts of strong winds, signaling the arrival of the cold front.
