Renowned Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was critically injured in a knife attack during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday.
The actor, who suffered multiple stab wounds, was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is reportedly out of danger.
According to Mumbai Police, an unidentified intruder entered the actor's home around 3 am, leading to a confrontation. During the altercation, the assailant stabbed Khan six times, inflicting two deep cuts. Family members were reportedly present in the house at the time but were unharmed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam, speaking to the media, confirmed the incident. "An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought, resulting in injuries to the actor. He is currently undergoing treatment. A detailed investigation is underway," the DCP stated.
A statement from Saif Ali Khan’s team also acknowledged the incident, requesting privacy during this critical time. "There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. This is a police matter, and we will keep you updated on the situation," the statement read.
The police have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the suspect. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and security footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to aid the investigation.
