The National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed a new polio case in Jacobabad District, Sindh, marking another instance of the virus in Pakistan.
According to details, the affected child exhibited signs of disability on December 27, 2024, according to the NIH spokesperson.
The latest case raised the total number of polio cases in the country to 71 for the year 2024.
The spokesperson announced that the first nationwide polio eradication campaign of 2025 would commence in the first week of February.
In an appeal to parents, the spokesperson urged them to ensure the vaccination of children under the age of five.
"Administering polio drops to young children is essential to safeguard them against this debilitating disease," the spokesperson stated.
