Former Indian cricket captain and 1983 World Cup-winning hero Kapil Dev has reacted to Yograj Singh's explosive claims, where the latter alleged that he once visited Kapil's house with a pistol - intending to shoot the cricket legend.

The claims made by Yograj in a recent interview have since gone viral sparking widespread attention and prompting media outlets to seek Kapil's reaction.

During a podcast titled Unfiltered by Samdish, Yograj, the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, opened up about the bitterness he harboured after being dropped from the North Zone team by Kapil Dev and his colleague Bishan Singh Bedi.

Yograj stated that the decision to drop him from the team left him deeply hurt, and he considered the move unjustified.

Recounting the dramatic episode, Yograj shared that, in a moment of anger, he took a gun to Kapil’s house in Sector 9, intending to confront him.

However, the presence of Kapil's mother, whom Yograj described as "pious," stopped him from going through with the act. Yograj claimed that he confronted Kapil, saying, "I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because your very pious mother is standing here."

The incident, according to Yograj, led to his decision to step away from cricket, and he shifted his focus to his son Yuvraj's future in the sport.

In addition, Yograj mentioned how he had taunted Kapil Dev after India’s 2011 World Cup victory, pointing out that his son, Yuvraj, had outshone Kapil in the tournament.

The claims sparked a media frenzy, and reporters were quick to approach Kapil Dev for his reaction. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Kapil was seen responding to questions about the shocking allegations.

 

With his usual calm demeanour and a touch of humour, Kapil dismissed the queries by asking, “Who is Yograj Singh?” When the reporters clarified that Yograj was Yuvraj’s father, Kapil casually replied, “Acchaa, aur kuch? (Well, anything else?)” before walking away from the scene without offering any further comments.

The response from the cricketing legend was seen as an attempt to downplay the controversy surrounding the incident.

Kapil, who has maintained a low-key profile over the years, did not engage in the specifics of the shocking claims but instead opted to take the high road.

Yograj Singh’s claims, although sensational, have ignited a debate on the intense rivalries and complex relationships within the Indian cricketing fraternity.

While the matter remains unresolved, Kapil Dev’s restrained response has kept him out of the limelight, maintaining his legendary status unscathed.
