Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir declared that the security forces have degraded the operational capabilities of terrorist organisations, both within the borders and beyond, making it clear that any attempt to disturb peace will be met with decisive force.
The COAS made these remarks during his visit to Peshawar, where he received a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The briefing was attended by the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, along with senior officials.
During the visit, General Munir praised the unyielding resolve and unparalleled sacrifices of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in dismantling terrorist networks and thwarting their nefarious agenda. He highlighted the forces' significant achievements in neutralizing terrorist threats, degrading operational capabilities, and dismantling the infrastructure of militant organisations.
“As we stand united against the forces of evil, I am immensely proud of the remarkable achievements of our security forces. Through their dedication, courage, and supreme sacrifices, we have successfully degraded the operational capabilities of terrorist organizations, both within our borders and beyond. Our forces have relentlessly pursued and eliminated key terrorist leaders, dismantled their infrastructure, and neutralized their cells, sending a clear message that terror has no place in our land," he stated. "This war is ongoing, and we will take it to its logical conclusion, InshAllah."
He commended the professionalism and courage of troops and law enforcement agencies who have successfully thwarted numerous terror plots, ensured the safety of citizens, and maintained peace and order. He also made it clear that any attempt to disturb the peace of the nation would be met with decisive and overwhelming force.
“The enemy may try to sow discord and fear, but we will not relent. Hostile elements will be dealt with with an iron hand. They will continue to suffer heavy losses, and their capacity to inflict harm will be decimated,” said Gen Asim Munir.
The COAS also lauded the morale of the troops and reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to safeguard the sovereignty and security of the country. He affirmed that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies were an unbreakable force.
In addition to the security briefing, General Asim Munir met with political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, representing various parties. The discussions emphasized the importance of a unified political voice and public support in the fight against terrorism.
The participants expressed their unequivocal support for the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, agreeing that a unified front transcending political differences is crucial to counter the extremist ideologies of terrorist groups.
Upon arrival, the COAS was received by the Peshawar corps commander.
