The Islamabad High Court, during the hearing of Dr Aafia Siddiqui's release and repatriation case, directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to arrange a meeting between Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, who is currently in the United States, and the U.S. Ambassador.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq, presiding over the case, was informed that there has been no response from the United States regarding the Prime Minister's letter requesting Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release.
The court remarked that next week could be crucial for the case and instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fully cooperate with Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui.
The court was also told that the details of the Prime Minister’s foreign visits, which were ordered to be submitted by December 20, were delayed due to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs' presence in China.
The Ministry’s representative requested more time, which the court granted, extending the deadline to next week.
Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s sister, has already reached the United States, but a meeting with the Pakistani Ambassador has not yet taken place.
The court directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui meets with the U.S. Ambassador.
The hearing has been adjourned until January 24.
