The Khyber Institute of Technical Training in Landikotal, established through collaboration between Frontier Corps North and the Shahid Afridi Foundation, has completed its inaugural three-month training program with 84 graduates, including both men and women.
The first cohort received training in various technical fields, including computer and digital skills, sewing and embroidery, motorcycle mechanics, electrical work, and welding. The Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) distributed certificates to graduates during the completion ceremony.
The President of the Industrial Association, speaking at the event, committed to facilitating employment opportunities for program graduates. The association emphasized the importance of technical education in the district's development landscape.
Responding to community requests, the IGFC has authorized the expansion of the program to include morning and evening sessions, effectively increasing the institute's capacity. The institute has also launched new courses in e-commerce and online business operations.
Plans are underway to affiliate the institute with the National Institute of Technical Education, Islamabad, aimed at broadening opportunities for youth from the Khyber region. This initiative seeks to integrate students from remote areas into mainstream educational and economic frameworks.
Graduating students acknowledged the role of FC North and the Shahid Afridi Foundation in establishing the vocational training facility, noting its potential impact on local employment opportunities.
The technical training program represents a structured approach to addressing skill development needs in the tribal districts, with the inaugural batch setting a framework for future expansions and collaborations.
