The Tull-Parachinar main road has been blocked for the past 100 days, halting all forms of transportation and causing severe hardships for residents.
Residents are facing a dire shortage of essential items, with many forced to endure hunger. The unavailability of petrol and diesel, coupled with ongoing power outages, has further compounded issues, making the supply of water nearly impossible.
According to President Tahaffuz Tanzeem-e-Millat, the death toll, including children, has reached 300 due to a lack of medical facilities and treatment. Musarrat Muntazir reported the death of another child today for the same reason.
Strike and Protests
The prolonged road closure has led to a complete shutter-down strike in Parachinar. All businesses and shops have been shut down in protest, announced Haji Imdad Hussain, President of the Trade Union. He added, “The markets will remain closed until the convoys arrive.”
Meanwhile, 160 loaded trucks are stuck in Tull, waiting for security clearance to move toward Parachinar, stated the President of Anjuman-e-Tajiran.
Stranded travelers in areas such as Hangu and Peshawar have announced protests and warned of a march on foot if the roads are not reopened today, according to social activist Muhammad Latif.
In Mandori, sit-ins continue as locals demand the fulfillment of their rights. Haji Karim has called for a relief package for Bagan victims.
Official Response
The district administration has stated that efforts to secure the road are ongoing. They assured that the peace agreement will be implemented in phases to restore normalcy.
