The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Sunday four suspects, including a former Punjab police officer, for their alleged involvement in human smuggling and fraud.
The FIA's anti-human trafficking cell conducted the operation in Jalalpur Jattan, leading to the arrest of Hassan Butt, an ex-officer of the Punjab police.
According to the FIA spokesperson, Butt had been facilitating the illegal transportation of citizens to Turkiye and Europe.
The spokesperson revealed that Butt was not the sole target of the operation. "We also apprehended a smuggler named Madah, who was accused of charging Rs3 million to send a citizen to Malaysia through unlawful means," the spokesperson stated.
In another crackdown, the FIA detained two suspects who had posed as representatives of a Saudi company to commit fraud.
The accused, identified as Sikandar and Mahboob, had swindled individuals out of Rs66 million under the pretext of issuing company visas.
