The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and DP World formally announced a strategic partnership aimed at modernising the country’s logistics and delivery systems in a historic move set to redefine logistics in Pakistan.
The collaboration promised to establish new benchmarks for excellence in the logistics industry. A grand ceremony, held in Karachi to mark this alliance, was attended by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, who served as the chief guest.
Senior officials from both organisations, government representatives, and members of the business community were also present at the event.
Expressing his delight at the partnership, Bin Sulayem stated, “Partnering with Pakistan’s largest logistics organisation is a proud moment for DP World. This collaboration represents a milestone for the logistics sector in Pakistan. By combining NLC’s extensive regional expertise with DP World’s global capabilities, we are establishing a robust foundation that will directly benefit the trading community.”
He further elaborated on the ongoing developments under the partnership. “The construction of modern logistics parks in Pakistan is progressing swiftly. Additionally, container movement from Jebel Ali Port to Karachi and other regional countries has already commenced,” Bin Sulayem remarked.
Speaking during the welcome address, NLC’s Director-General highlighted the significance of the partnership. “It is an honour for NLC to collaborate with DP World. The mutual cooperation of both organisations will foster innovation in the logistics sector and enhance Pakistan’s position as a regional trade hub,” he said.
He also noted the economic benefits of the alliance. “This partnership will attract direct foreign investment and create thousands of employment opportunities,” the Director-General emphasised.
According to the agreement, two joint venture companies have been established. The logistics joint venture company will focus on improving supply chain efficiency across various industries by employing state-of-the-art facilities and best practices. Meanwhile, the road freight joint venture company will modernise transportation systems and boost trade with neighbouring countries through land routes.
The historic collaboration between NLC and DP World was expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, paving the way for enhanced trade and connectivity while laying the groundwork for a brighter future for Pakistan and the region.
