The city of Karachi experienced a notable drop in temperature today, with the mercury recording a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius, marking a sharp increase in the intensity of the cold.
This chilly spell has been attributed to icy winds originating from Balochistan, which have significantly lowered the perceived temperature in the city.
According to the Meteorological Department, the cold is being felt 2 to 4 degrees colder than the actual temperature due to the northeast winds blowing at speeds ranging from 5 to 15 kilometers per hour.
These winds have contributed to a piercing chill, particularly in the morning hours, when visibility was reported to be limited to just 3 kilometers due to light fog.
The weather department has forecasted that Karachi will continue to experience cold and dry conditions for the next 24 hours. The city is expected to see a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature potentially dipping further to 8 degrees Celsius.
