Lahore Qalandars announced on Saturday the list of the retained players for the forthcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
According to the PSL regulations, each team could retain up to eight players. Lahore Qalandars included their captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, among the eight retained players.
Similar to the previous seasons, Lahore Qalandars kept their core players intact for the upcoming edition.
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman were retained in the Platinum category. Haris Rauf, who is the poster boy and brand ambassador of Lahore Qalandars, was retained in the Diamond category alongside Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza Butt.
Abdullah Shafique, Zaman Khan, and Jahandad Khan were placed in the Gold category, while former Namibian all-rounder David Wiese was retained in the Silver category.
Team director, Sameen Rana, stated: "These players are not just part of the squad but also considered family."
He mentioned that selecting retained players was not an easy task, as every player who wore the Lahore Qalandars jersey held a special place in the team's history.
Rana said: "These players will always remain part of Lahore Qalandars' legacy. The retention is not just about contracts but also about building the team's legacy together."
He acknowledged retention as the "most challenging" phase of the PSL process.
Meanwhile, the PSL draft was scheduled to take place on 11 January, during which the Qalandars planned to select 12 additional players to complete their squad.
