Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft suffered a broken shoulder and nose after an accidental clash with team-mate Daniel Sams during a Big Bash League match on Friday, Sydney Thunder confirmed on Saturday.
The incident occurred when both players attempted to catch the same ball in the field during a match against the Perth Scorchers. The collision left both players concussed and lying on the ground.
Bancroft, who has played 10 Tests for Australia, was seen with blood streaming from his nose but was able to walk off the field after the incident. Sams, a 10-match T20 international for Australia, was stretchered off following a head collision with his fellow 32-year-old.
Sydney Thunder revealed that Bancroft sustained a concussion, a fractured nose, and a fractured right scapula. His Big Bash League season was confirmed to be over.
Both players were hospitalised after the clash but were expected to be discharged later on Saturday afternoon.
