Investigative agencies have released a preliminary report regarding the attack on the convoy of Deputy Commissioner Javed Mehsud in Kurram.
The report said that the tragic incident occurred at approximately 10:35am on Saturday, when a group of 40 to 50 armed miscreants opened fire on the convoy, which included government vehicles.
The first of many convoys, which was set to transport essential medicines and food supplies to Kurram, was part of a peace agreement. Prior to the convoy's departure, a negotiation team had been in talks to open the road to allow the passage of goods.
As a result of the attack, five individuals were injured, including three policemen and two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, in addition to the deputy commissioner. Authorities have assured that actions will be taken against those responsible for the attack once they are identified, according to official sources.
