Three hunters were caught red-handed hunting the rare and protected Sulaiman Markhor in the Bostan area of Pishin district, Balochistan.
The Levies force acted swiftly on a tip-off, arresting the accused and recovering the hunted Markhor, weapons, and a vehicle from their possession.
The Sulaiman Markhor, a rare species and a protected national treasure, fell victim to illegal hunting in the mountainous region of Pishin.
Following the arrests, the Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department registered a case against the hunters under the Balochistan Wildlife Act 2014. The accused were presented before Judicial Magistrate-I, who handed them over to the Levies on a three-day judicial remand for further investigation.
Officials emphasized the importance of preserving endangered species like the Sulaiman Markhor, which is recognized as a symbol of Pakistan’s rich biodiversity. They reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward poaching and illegal hunting activities.
