Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been excluded from the playing XI for the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Captain Pat Cummins confirmed the playing XI for the Sydney Test, announcing that all-rounder Beau Webster will make his Test debut in place of Marsh. Webster will become the 469th player to represent Australia in Test cricket.
Mitchell Marsh, who struggled throughout the series, managed only 73 runs at an average of 10.42 and has been left out for the final match.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Mitchell Starc will play the New Year’s Test despite battling a rib injury. Captain Pat Cummins praised Starc's determination, stating that missing this match was never an option for the pacer.
Australia currently leads the five-match series 2-1. The final Test is set to begin tomorrow at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
