The polio virus outbreak in Pakistan continues to escalate, with a new case reported from Dera Ismail Khan, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH).
The latest case has raised the total number of polio cases in the country to 68 this year.
Dera Ismail Khan alone has recorded 10 cases, as confirmed by the Emergency Operation Center.
Balochistan remains the worst-hit province with 27 cases, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 20, and Sindh with 19. Punjab and Islamabad have reported one case each.
The resurgence of the virus underscores the urgency of intensified immunization and awareness campaigns to curb its spread.
Health authorities are urging parents to ensure their children are vaccinated to protect them from this debilitating disease.
